Well if last season was unpredictable and the situation volatile, it was a boring and uneventful millpond compared to the maelstrom which has
subsequently engulfed North End. Yet, in spite of the turbulence, we've enjoyed a close competition this year with the result being undecided until the final whistle of the last game.
Congratulations to those who made it an exciting finish and, to everyone who took part this year, thanks for playing!
So - what of the PP League then? There was a certain Tricky One who had a moment of glory at the top of the table, only to be treacherously usurped by his own brother,
Drongo the Infallible. Then a couple of plucky Blighty-Whites, Walrus and Rich, seemed to be sticking around through all the turmoil and indeed briefly hit the top spot close to the end of the campaign,
eventually finishing a creditable third and fourth.
And let us not overlook the Spanish invasion. Few in number, perhaps, but, renowned for their technical ability and straw donkeys, they have snatched two of the top six places this term.
We are considering excuses to bar them from next year's competition - probably based loosely on the grounds that they might win it.
Former PP champs struggled this season. Hamilton came with a late run but still failed to catch Drongo (Ha!) while Snow White seemed distracted.
Other WhitesDownunder finished in bunches - either just outside the playoffs or down at the bottom. David Myer managed a late flurry to escape the manager's lash,
but clearly there is work to be done in the Downunder camp this close-season so I'm planning to invite Mr Westley over for some motivational and pruning work.
Still, the important thing is that Whites Downunder ultimately triumphed thanks to Glen's buccaneering performance, backed up by the late-surging dazzla who
edged out Walrus for second place. A glance at the table shows that dazzla missed predicting on three games but finished only 7 points behind the winner. His reward for this performance will come many
years from now in the form of a fatal bludgeoning delivered by his grandchildren as he begins, yet again, the tale of "did I ever tell you about the time I could have won the Preston Predictions League?"
Glen missed no games, and Glen won. There's a moral in that somewhere.
Once again - to everyone - thanks for playing!

The PP Big Wigs had an enourmous expenses paid piss-up (surely presentation trip?) to Perth, handing over the famous trophy to Glen in his local boozer
