How come the Stoke result isn’t added as yet
sagwhite24-03-2026 15:17:17
----- Trev wrote "But Keith, you couldn't have become the custodian of WDU if I had not let it go". ----- The whitesdownunder.NET domain has always been owned by me, I got rid of it this year as I couldn't see the need in paying for it anymore. ----- Trev wrote "The question is: why did I let it go? Well, as I said, there was no longer a need for it." ----- So why bother getting another domain? ----- Trev wrote "It’s been around since 1997 on GeoCities, before things like Facebook or Google existed,  https://www.oocities.org/world.../whitesdownunder/index.html ----- You do realise that's not a domain don't you, it's a directory under www.oocities.org, which is the domain name. ----- Trev wrote "But the PP league lived comfortably in that domain on my Arvixe account until the end of last season." ----- Yes, I was good enough owning it, to let it reside on your hosting account because I'm nice like that, but had to move it (whitesdownunder.NET) to my site because you wouldn't fix the SSL issue after 2 years with the new system. If you had fixed the SSL issue, my whitesdownunder.NET domain would still be on your arvixe account, running PP. ----- Trev wrote "Keith has access to the Arvixe site" ----- No Keith doesn't, when I tried in December to put the system back to your hosting account, you changed the password or username to block me, I have no access to your site, so can't do anything to help. ----- Trev wrote "However, we need some fresh blood (young whizzkids) who might be more inclined to support the ppreds rather than the wdu. (?)" ----- Why would a domain name mean the whizzkids would be more inclined to support a site, that doesn't make sense?? ----- Trev wrote "My nephew Martin (aka PNE_Junior) did some rescue work for us a few years ago, keeping the site running" ----- Did he, what did he do to save us, and keep PP going, I honestly can't remember that, be interested to know, was it on the old PP system? Anyway, after today I will be away for a while, and I have no idea when I'll be back, just depends on how things turn out, PP stuff will have to wait, as PP is very low on my priority list at the moment, other stuff going on has far more importance.
Drongo15-03-2026 06:19:38
https://www.ppreds.net/index.html Have a look and tell me what you reckon
Drongo23-02-2026 06:32:29
Well I think PP can be saved.  I let the Whites Downunder domain go as there was no longer a need for it, and I wasn't planning on renewing the hosting plan with Arvixe, which expires in November this year, as it's another $375+ However, I decided to buy a new domain for PP, hosting it at least temporarily on Arvixe, and to try transferring the software to a test directory where "volunteers" can take a look at the workings and set the thing up for another season. That's if Keith can do the honours and load the files back onto my Arvixe acct.  After 20 years, I reckon we should have Heritage Status, and get govt support , or maybe become a National Trust entity
sagwhite23-02-2026 14:40:01
???? You let the whitesdownunder domain go? You didn't even own it to let it go, I am the one who has owned the domain for the last few years and been paying for it, I messaged you over a month ago to tell you that I was getting rid, as I have another domain that it can run on, the prestonne domain?? How weird, anyway, I am not at home at the moment and have limited connectivity, so it will be next weekend before I can do anything, subject to me feeling up to it.
Drongo12-03-2026 06:19:30

You let the whitesdownunder domain go? You didn't even own it to let it go, I am the one who has owned the domain for the last few years and been paying for it, I messaged you over a month ago to tell you that I was getting rid, as I have another domain that it can run on, the prestonne domain?? How weird, anyway, I am not at home at the moment and have limited connectivity, so it will be next weekend before I can do anything, subject to me feeling up to it. I wonder why this PP league keeps going anyway. Isn't there another predictions league for the North End? But Keith, you couldn't have become the custodian of WDU if I had not let it go. The question is: why did I let it go?  Well, as I said, there was no longer a need for it. The PP league could live elsewhere, in some other domain, on some other server. And, as I also wrote, I’d bought a new domain for the purpose:  www.ppreds.net  and installed it on my Arvixe account. I thought that might be appropriate for taking PP into the future.  I did feel a twinge of remorse/nostalgia about waving bye-bye to the WDU site, though. It’s been around since 1997 on GeoCities, before things like Facebook or Google existed, but everything’s different now, and there’s no need for a site dedicated to Whites Downunder.  But the PP league lived comfortably in that domain on my Arvixe account until the end of last season.  I still have the hosting account, but no longer use it for my work, so I was planning to close it in November and save some dosh. That was before Keith began sending distress signals for PP on his Hostinger account.  So what to do? Do we save the WDU domain, or do we begin afresh ?  I can assure my antipodean friends that there will always be more than a faint odour of the Outback around PP :-)  For anyone still reading: I did some searching, and...looking a bit odd in the archives, here are a couple of the old, old Whites Downunder pages: https://www.oocities.org/worldwide_whites/whitesdownunder/index.html  BTW, I had totally forgotten about the “Andrews” files that you may be able to find there, but with the recent scandal involving the artiste formerly known as “Prince Andrew”, I reckon those pages were 20 years ahead of their time :-) https://www.oocities.org/worldwide_whites/whitesdownunder/index.html
davidmyer20-12-2025 10:11:21
Well done, Keith.  You are going as well as PNE.  Pretty good with just the occasional upset through no fault of your own.
sagwhite21-12-2025 14:13:23
Thanks David, much appreciated.
sagwhite11-12-2025 13:18:34
We have a working system again, sorry about the delay, the problem was caused by a mysql update that I had no idea about. Not to worry, I will be moving the site to a different server after the Oxford game. To facilitate the move the site will be down for 24/36 hours from Sunday afternoon, I will post information when page is ready again. Thanks for your understanding/patience with the problems, Keith.
Snow White09-12-2025 16:06:12
Quite happy to start all over again and forget about the previous incorrect predictions  ;-)
sagwhite09-12-2025 16:16:01
Don't worry Barb, I've already fixed it that you'll be top when I get the database back 😜😜
sagwhite09-12-2025 14:52:58
Apologies for the problems that are currenty occuring in PP, I am trying to fathom out why the table has been blank seems like someone has managed to run a table regeneration that didn't work so we are back too week one.  The system has to stay as it is, as folks may want to input their predictions for the Coventry game. After the game the system will be offline, while I try and figure out what happened so as to avoid further problems, and to try and fix the table so we are back to a working system.  I'll post on facebook when the site is back online again, thanks for your patience.
WorcesterWhite02-12-2025 22:38:06
Is the table not updating again?
Drongo26-10-2025 07:51:39
Well I must say, the top of the PP table has a most pleasing appearance at present 😃 🏆 🎃 👻 🎃 ⚽️ 👻
crusader29-09-2025 21:22:45
Thanks for the info all sorted now
crusader27-09-2025 22:02:22
How do I find my past predictions
sagwhite29-09-2025 20:45:52
Hi, just click on your usename in the table on the main screen and they should de displayed.
WorcesterWhite22-08-2025 09:18:01
Is it just me or is table not updating?
pom23-08-2025 12:27:24
I was thinking the same thing. Deffo not updating
walrus07-08-2025 16:09:44
New season, renewed optimism. I don't think Daniel Iversen will concede all season and I WILL beat both kids this season, especially if I don't remind them about the start of the season!
crusader06-08-2025 10:31:35
Well done Marcus on winning the league last season I’d have a beer to celebrate if the Black Bull was still open.
crusader06-08-2025 10:26:37
Good to see the league back in action. I’ll do my best to have more input this season than last.
sagwhite02-07-2025 14:07:19
PP is once again open for business for the 2025-26 season, so any early birds wishing to predict can now go ahead. There have been some changes to the software for organisation purposes, you hopefully won't notice these, but if anyone finds a problem could they let me know asap, thanks. I have added one new option, "All Future Preds", it's on the left menu after you have logged in.  This allows punters to input the same prediction for all remaining games,  home and away. It can be useful as using this ensures you have a prediction for all remaining games, just in case you forget to predict or miss any games. Let's say you predict for a 2-1 loss for the away game at QPR, and then  predict a 1-1 draw in the home game against Leicester, using this new option will set all away games to a 2-1 loss, and all home games to a 1-1 draw. You then only need to login to change your predictions when you think the outcome may be different.
sagwhite17-05-2025 18:23:30
Bit delayed due to other things needing my time, but yes it's finally here, the season summary and congratulations to Marcus. Click on the link above in red to view, or The Hall of Fame button on the left menu under PP History.
Drongo14-05-2025 05:52:23
Apologies for this year's somewhat tardy end-of-season report. Sometimes life gets in the way, but rest assured that the staff at PP Head Office had every intention of "getting round to it" as soon as possible.  Not long now :-)
davidmyer06-05-2025 16:24:21
Yes a 2-1 home win for every prediction was a good effort this season.  Interestingly a 1-1 draw predicted for every game would have earned 105 points and the marvellous Preston Predictions trophy
Drongo14-05-2025 10:27:08
And another interesting/depressing thing: entering a 0-0 result for every game would have clocked up eight six-pointers for Correct Score -  more than everyone but Ellie managed this year  :-(
sagwhite21-05-2025 21:15:18
Interesting fact David about the 1-1, this season is only 4 out of 20 competitions where entering the same score for every game would have won you the title, the other years being 2021-22 (1-0), 202-21 (0-1) and 2012-13 (1-0).
davidmyer06-05-2025 16:18:28
Well done, Pom.  Keeping the Australian flag flying at the top.  Great effort in a really difficult season.  It will be interesting to see if other competitors use the same tactics next season.  Bad luck to Bedford White who led the competition for most of the season.  And well done the organisers of the competition once again.
Bedford white09-04-2025 13:29:19
I seem to be finishing the season like Preston!
Drongo13-04-2025 02:56:24
🏆 Ah yes - the pressure at the top is immense. So many millions at stake  💰 ⚽️
Drongo31-03-2025 05:34:47
Congrats to Paul Billington (Bedford White) on his victory in this season's longer-than-usual PP Cup competition. It was a close finish, and now we have to see if he can complete a Cup/League double 🙂
pneireland17-03-2025 04:12:57
Was gonna put 4 nil pne v villa but the ref will block 3 of them!!
Drongo07-01-2025 04:54:50
Charlton at home - surely we can win that ?? Don't forget to enter your prediction for this week's cup game!
Drongo10-10-2024 12:52:05
Excitement may not quite be at fever pitch yet for the Arsenal cup game, but the fixture is available for your expert attention. 🏆
pom01-09-2024 17:26:46
I noticed the result against Oxford obviously wasn’t what most thought it would be with only 2 of us getting the correct result. I feel it’s going to be a rough month or 2 before the ship is steadied and the wins start going our way. It’s going to be a long season
Drongo03-09-2024 04:18:39
Let's hope it's one month, rather than two. Our collective wave of desperate optimism is understandable, though perhaps tactically imprudent for those seeking success in this brutally combative venue of Preston Predictions. I see even Bazza went for an uncharacteristic starry-eyed draw 😏
Drongo22-08-2024 05:38:21
Cup game v Harrogate awaits your input
hamiltonmachine19-08-2024 12:05:15
Anyone updating the tables?
Drongo22-08-2024 03:53:00
Calm down Bazza. Yes, you are Top Of The League 👍 But now that we have have a new gaffer, promising "attacking, entertaining football" (where have we heard that before?), perhaps your Pessimistic Predictions strategy may need a rethink ?
hamiltonmachine22-08-2024 10:23:06
I was starting to like Ryan Lowe, he was becoming so predictable!
walrus13-08-2024 01:01:03
Always a shame when a manager leaves as it means usually we have been poor, but hopefully the new man whoever he will be can reignite everyones enthusiasm
hamiltonmachine12-08-2024 12:08:20
How come the table is still all zeroes?
hamiltonmachine12-08-2024 12:11:41
Probably because I was defaulting to the cup table...
costablanca white09-07-2024 23:13:36
Is the last game of the season missing? Bristol City vs Preston North End Saturday, 3 May 2025
sagwhite10-07-2024 01:28:10
Thanks Gary for pointing that out, I have looked at the code and have fixed it, basically it was displaying the 46 games for the season but as the Sunderland Caraboa cup match was in there as well, it should have displayed 47 games!
crusader09-07-2024 15:25:32
Well done and thanks for the new prediction league this new version looks brilliant asnd is easy to use.
sagwhite10-07-2024 01:30:36
Thanks, nice to see positive feedback , any problems let me know and I'll look into it, cheers Keith
Snow White09-07-2024 04:10:14
Cheers for the work in setting up the new season!   Ready... steady ....
pom09-07-2024 14:03:38
Agreed, thanks for your work
sagwhite10-07-2024 01:57:29
Thanks for your comments, lets get predicting!
sagwhite09-07-2024 03:13:37
Sorry about the delay for this seasons comp, I normally setup the new season when the fixtures are out but have had other stuff to deal with, not to worry I am now on the case and we should see our new season appear shortly!! Happy predicting!
davidmyer03-05-2024 21:35:04
Well done Mark.  109 is a powerful result in a difficult (to predict) season.  It must be close to a record score - and with a game to go.  Great effort.
Drongo20-05-2024 11:12:41
The record winning score is still 124, amassed in 2014-15 by Mr Dixon (walrus), but yes, it has been such a perplexing season that anything close to 100 points is a worthy effort  👍
Drongo04-01-2024 03:46:45
Our Cup table leaders have only ONE POINT. This means absolutely anyone could win. Don't miss out on your chance to take your place in the Hall of Fame! Enter your whacky prediction today! 👍
walrus26-11-2023 20:42:10
Well that was a kick in the nuts for the start of the festive season...
sagwhite27-11-2023 10:31:53
Trev he's said that word before December, 10 points deduction or should we just ban him?
Drongo27-11-2023 20:50:30
Such flagrant dissent deserves demotion to the second division of the PP League, which I have just invented. Ho Ho Ho (oops)😳
sagwhite25-11-2023 00:35:05
Back and all updated, happy predicting 😁😁😁
sagwhite11-09-2023 12:13:41
Added a couple more options on the Prediction Stats section for anyone who wants a gander, also within the table you can click on your username for all your predictions or click on the CS or CR scores to check how you won all of your points.
Drongo15-07-2023 00:26:36
If you search intently for it, you'll see a little smiley, and that opens the door to succinct expressions of our innermost feelings 😛 🇪🇸  🚽
Snow White14-07-2023 07:54:49
well done to our esteemed management team in getting us up and running for the new season.   Can we hurry and get started now please?!

Hello from Omokoroa!
Drongo24-05-2023 16:55:46
Hi Bazza. Omokoroa? Nice spot 😀 Are you on your hols or did you relocate?
hamiltonmachine10-08-2023 04:08:14
We retired to the beach!
sagwhite09-05-2023 11:04:13
Thanks for you kind words David and congratulations on another win, while keeping it going has been a chore at times it's still hasn't reduced the fun of doing it so see ya all next season!
Drongo09-05-2023 06:10:56
Thanks for all the platitudes, David, and well played :-)
davidmyer09-05-2023 04:01:56
Truly humbled. A great honour. I did it for Australia. All credit to my fellow competitors, without whom... And lots of other platitudes. But particular mention to Tricky One who would have won if he'd gone for a 0-1 or 0-2 in this final game. Huge thanks to Trevor and Keith for holding the whole thing together especially with the various software hassles thrown up this season. I must say it has been good fun once again, and the reason for that in my view, is that you organisers have pitched the spirit exactly right. Well done.
Drongo08-04-2023 03:04:26
Yikes! Just when it looks as if Australia has another trophy, the Tricky One scores a six-pointer and David's self-jinxing prophesy comes true.
Drongo06-04-2023 00:09:59
It was also decided by the Supreme Council that Spain has had quite enough PP success for the time being, and that the 'see others' predictions' should be switched off for the duration (thus shielding our patrons from the temptation of indulging in the unseemly and unsporting practice of 'tactical predicting') It's all in a days work for the Supreme Council
sagwhite05-04-2023 13:26:01
Rubbish, I'm only 52 points behind and there's still 7 games to go, don't count your chickens just yet, I've been studying the form of all our next opponents!
Drongo04-04-2023 23:19:56
It was decided over drinks at the club that we should have another winner from Team Oz. A few quid in the right pockets and... Hey Presto(n). It's a funny old game! As for the new World Record, David, I've asked our team of archivists to look into that as a matter of the utmost urgency ;-)
walrus04-04-2023 08:02:26
what on earth has happened, I was winning this easy.....
davidmyer01-04-2023 22:12:07
Is that a new World REcord? Ten correct results on the trot? There. That will jinx the sequence for sure.
pneireland28-01-2023 13:52:45
Come on North End....today's the day...its only spurs ????
walrus09-01-2023 09:56:19
Damm forgot all about this, and I was going to go 3-1 for PNE, honestly....
davidmyer04-01-2023 05:03:23
Can't feel a thing, Drongo. Will have to work hard to beat the whiskered Walrus
Drongo02-01-2023 23:51:26
Leader-board finally changes at PP, but England still top the table. Australia is counting on you, Mr Myer. (no pressure)
walrus02-01-2023 22:08:55
Happy New Year everyone, top of the table, who'd have thought it!
Drongo27-12-2022 20:41:54
Overcome by the Spirit of Christmas, Bazza? I think PNE were :-(
hamiltonmachine27-12-2022 03:33:41
Last time I ever predict optimistically, how can they lose to 'uddersfield?
Drongo22-12-2022 06:05:39
The site is now updated :-)
Drongo06-11-2022 03:25:28
Reckon you're right David, but perhaps less exciting too. The sheer unpredictability of results in the Championship make winning the PP trophy feel like more of an achievement- and sometimes a reward for shrugging the shoulders and simply carrying on :-)
davidmyer05-11-2022 22:55:12
When we make it to the Prem, prediction is going to be an awful lot easier.
Drongo01-10-2022 23:27:07
Well your prediction has been entered, Johnno, just for the record. Might not be a great year in PP for the optimists
Johnno01-10-2022 15:00:22
I couldn't log on for today's match. My prediction is Sunderland 1 PNE 3
Drongo01-10-2022 08:56:56
It's good to see a few flags with the Southern Cross occupying spots in the upper half of the table. With any luck, this will be another year when the fabulous PP trophy heads Downunder :-)
sagwhite06-08-2022 23:28:30
THe Huddersfield cup game is now belatedly available for your predictions.
Drongo22-07-2022 04:32:00
That's very specific Johnno; I hope you're right (remember folks - you heard it here first!)
Johnno20-07-2022 06:16:26
Premier League here we come. A top 2 finish for us and Sunderland.
sagwhite07-05-2022 14:40:01
If you pretend you are Real Madrid Mr. Walrus you could still do it!
walrus03-05-2022 19:08:08
I'll do well to win this one from here!
Drongo10-02-2022 22:13:40
Optimism rewarded, Martin :-)
martin09-02-2022 15:42:52
I've changed my prediction for tonight to reflect my increased optimism
sagwhite05-02-2022 13:09:39
Christ on a bike Trevor forgot about that foto, btw I've always been special!
walrus17-10-2021 21:30:58
Certainly its a period of uncertainty, which if it transfers to the players will probably not help the optimistic punters amongst us...and I am becoming increasingly certain Fun Time Frankie is also bad for us. Hopefully Uncle Trevor will have put in place a good sucession plan.
pom12-10-2021 10:16:46
Seeing the news Trevor Hemmings has passed away is devastating. I found out in the last 11 years he has invested 37 million into the club, keeping it afloat. My concern now is will we continue to have a financial backing like that or not? I fear the club could be made to be self funding, which will probably end up dropping down into League 1 or 2.
Drongo28-08-2021 07:21:21
As already posted in the Facebook group: We're having a few PP emails returned to us. These are mainly Gmail addresses (Martin, Jo, Barb, Barry) because they're marked as SPAM. So, if you would like to receive these mails, just mark them as 'not spam'. These are just notifications of your own predictions etc. as we hardly ever send other emails from PP. A couple of yahoo addresses are also being rejected: Garybut and Glen. Same story :-) Cheers!
Drongo23-03-2021 00:11:19
Yes, I was thinking along those lines myself, Bazza, but I think you have a very healthy lead now.
hamiltonmachine22-03-2021 03:12:48
How dare they sack AN just when their losses were getting so predictable! ;-)
Drongo01-03-2021 05:19:14
I think it might be a little early to write off the other punters, Walrus. With virtually a new team playing for us, the predicting lark is even more difficult than it was before Christmas.
walrus25-02-2021 23:03:36
Wow, looks like I'm in a two horse race...
pom21-01-2021 10:08:09
As it heats up down under, we are think of you in the snow and lockdown back in blighty. Stay safe and up the whites!
Drongo22-12-2020 07:20:25
Well, as Bing Crosby isn't predicting this season, I think the Christmas title is yours, pom. Hearty, jolly and festive congratulations to you. Give my regards to Tiny Tim :-)
pom20-12-2020 20:54:56
Does this mean I’m Christmas number 1?
davidmyer05-11-2020 11:11:10
Do keep up JoJo. You're a chance this season...
sagwhite12-09-2020 16:13:57
Now then folks do not forget our cup game on Tuesday night, away at Derby or Rooney County as they are now called, get predicting !
sagwhite10-09-2020 15:03:21
I've moved to Gibraltar so I'm in
crusader08-09-2020 20:38:25
Hey I'm top of the pile :)
sagwhite31-08-2020 14:42:49
Folks have asked us on occasions if we can setup some sort of reminder before games so they don't forget to predict, well we are pleased to announce that we asked the IT department if anything could be done and received 2 answers, the 1st was f**k off but after they realised the Dog & Duck was shut due to the lockdown they sobered up enough to come out with a second reply which seems to have done the trick. So I can now announce that email reminders are available for every game if folks would like to 'opt in' to the scheme, to 'opt in' go to 'My Profile' and check the box for the new option of email reminders, once checked you will receive an email some 32'36 hours before each match if you haven't already predicted. If folks choosing this option would like to check their email address as well in case of any changes. There you have it, in future any punter coming up with the phrase 'I forgot to predict' will see them suffer a points deduction if they haven't opted in.!! Good luck to all for the new season.
infidel31-08-2020 13:35:02
Is Twatty McLeod still on here.
Drongo23-08-2020 05:06:04
Hmm - I don't know, Bazza. It might well be a record. Not sure how long we've been running the Cup Comp. It seems longer than our Hall of Fame records show. I'll have a wander into the dusty cellars of our archive section here at PP Towers.
Drongo01-08-2020 07:12:44
Thanks Bazza - but hey, I'm not a PAST winner yet - I'm the current Champion, and I intend to remind people of that all the way to the end of next season :-)
hamiltonmachine29-07-2020 06:29:41
Well done Trev! And welcome to the exclusive past winners club! :)
sagwhite24-07-2020 10:38:35
This seasons hall of fame with podium and presentation are now available of viewing, click the hall of fame link under pp history in the left column for a gander.
Drongo24-07-2020 08:58:38
Thanks David. We hope to patch up the code in order to keep the system working for next season, but it certainly is showing its age now. I also hope to have a little more time now to jolly things up a bit around here.
davidmyer22-07-2020 22:52:25
Bravo, Trev. Well done and couldn't have happened to better bloke. Thanks to you and to Keith for putting in the effort to make it a fun part of the PNE experience. We can now all stay home and sulk until next season...
Drongo22-07-2020 00:23:15
Just looking at the list of predicted scores for this last game; there are NINE different final scores predicted by our punters and ALL of them are perfectly plausible right now. This is a far cry from the confidence we enjoyed in mid-season :-(
Drongo20-07-2020 21:22:45
Well if David hits the jackpot this time, I think I would need more than one point because otherwise he would win on the number of CS This is just too nerve-wracking ! My pills ... where are my pills??
sagwhite20-07-2020 12:15:18
So David it's 6 points required and hope Trev gets 0! Tall order but stranger things have happened in the past, if Trev goes into adminstration before Wednesday we would have to apply a 12 point deduction so there is still hope.
sagwhite20-07-2020 12:01:16
Looked like it was to be a record points total at one stage but the 124pts by Walrus in 2014-15 will still stand after the last game, half way stage had the leader on 70pts which was amazing sadely the last half of the season has been a low scoring affair.
Drongo19-07-2020 01:03:00
Absolutely! I can't tell you how much I agonised over that last prediction :-) I think you may be right about the record points haul, but then everyone in the top spots has done well in that regard - probably a reflection of how well PNE were going for most of the season.
davidmyer18-07-2020 23:18:39
Great time to get a correct result and score, Drongo. Just coming off the bend. Pressure's on now. 115 must be a record already, isn't it?
Drongo27-03-2020 06:31:15
It's hard to see this season being played to a natural conclusion. Some speculative dates are being put forward for a resumption, but I can see so many reasons why it can't suddenly be business as usual on any given date in the foreseeable future just because some bunch of officials name that particular date. Whatever happens, it will be a contrived, unnatural finish to the Championship season, lucky for some and desperately unfair for others.
hamiltonmachine18-03-2020 05:24:19
So, you will be declaring this season's competition null and void Trev? Shame when you were so close to winning it! ;)
Drongo29-02-2020 10:15:30
Getting faintly warm, Bazza. Beginning to lose confidence in our ability to score :-(
hamiltonmachine23-02-2020 00:03:28
Starting to feel the heat Trev?
hamiltonmachine20-01-2020 04:45:08
I retained the Cup! Is that a record? ;)
Drongo15-12-2019 01:17:03
What? Really? Another correct prediction? I'm beginning to think I should buy a lottery ticket :-)
sagwhite04-12-2019 09:31:34
The FAcup game versus Norwich is available for your predictions.
Drongo29-11-2019 21:08:46
Nine different scorelines predicted for this next game suggests that I'm not the only one to be having doubts
Drongo26-11-2019 22:41:55
Well I would like to claim that it's down to a deep knowledge of the team etc., but I'm afraid I can't. I just hope my luck holds!
davidmyer26-11-2019 21:43:51
Wow, Drongo. What a pace you are setting. 52 after 17 is world record breaking stuff. Normally the leader is around 100 at the end of the season and we are six games short of half way. It just shows that not everyone in Preston is pessimistic.
Drongo24-09-2019 20:50:38
Thanks for the heads-up, Rich - I updated my score too :-)
abitrich24-09-2019 17:05:33
Looks like City will be playing a 17 year old youth player in central defence. Better update my score.

hamiltonmachine19-05-2019 22:38:38
I am happy with 2nd, it was an interesting season. For my prize I am just about to set off for Preston. Looking forward to re-visiting a few of my old haunts e.g. Moorbrook, Olde Blue Bell etc. Looking forward to drinking warm beer again!
sagwhite06-05-2019 15:53:06
Ta for the congrats, great to be the 1st punter to win it twice but an honourable mention must go to Barry who almost made me do a Devon Loch and fall close to the finishing line, after halfway I thought I had it sewn up but some excellent predicting (especially M'boro away) cut the lead to 6 points at one stage and had me thinking I might just have blown it. Congrats to the others in the top 6, some familiar names there to be seen!
06-05-2019 12:40:20
Thanks for another good season's banter and competition. A bronzer medal to add to the tally ;-)
Drongo06-05-2019 08:16:21
I feel your pain David. I think this may be the first season when I've managed to predict on all the games. However, I still only managed a paltry two correct scores from all those 46 matches! I wouldn't worry too much about being pipped by yours truly though. Nobody remembers who came fourth :-( Congrats to sagwhite for holding on to the lead for such a long time, and hard luck Bazza - you made it a closer finish than looked likely. Now it's time to update this site, if time can be found. Thanks for playing, everyone :-)
davidmyer27-04-2019 23:41:03
Just looking back at the comments, I see that at one stage PNE were 20th and playing Bolton 3rd. How things change.
davidmyer27-04-2019 23:38:37
How could I have been stupid enough not to notice my 1-1 prediction for the Owls had not been registered? I always check the predictions have gone in , but not this time and now Drongo of all people has gone ahead of me to lead the Australian contingent. This is devastating. A bit like PNE finishing 12th instead of 11th when they thought they had it won. Just not careful enough. Well it looks like we have a winner. Congratulations to Sagwhite as the first person to win the title more than once. Splendid effort. Well done.
hamiltonmachine21-04-2019 09:45:11
It does appear that way :(
Drongo19-04-2019 21:29:08
Oh dear - it looks like the old Pessimistic Propensity has dented Bazza's chances of snatching the trophy
Drongo07-04-2019 22:34:28
As we are now coming to the end of the predicting season, the predictions of your fellow contestants are no longer visible.
hamiltonmachine17-03-2019 07:45:05
It is not the season for the devout pessimist so I have had to adapt my style. Obviously I was too optimistic yesterday thinking North End would get 2 goals against the brummies :(
Drongo14-03-2019 00:13:27
It all seems a bit suspicious to me David. I do hope our Kiwi friend has not decided to use his undoubted influence and great wealth to affect the outcome of our matches.
davidmyer13-03-2019 23:00:15
Great pick by the Hamilton Machine. How did he know there would be a controversial sending-off to swing it for us? Respect.
Drongo13-03-2019 03:27:02
With most of us predicting a defeat or a draw, I was idly wondering who among us was predicting a 1-2 victory against Boro. To my amazement I find our usually pessimistic Kiwi is among them. Are you feeling quite well,Bazza? Or perhaps you're in possession of some valuable inside information that you'd like to share with the rest of us?
Drongo13-12-2018 05:28:00
I'm not sure how that differs from what's already on offer. If you click on your (or anyone's) ID on the league table, it will show all the predictions you've made. If you click on the 'My Missing Predictions' link on the left, it will show all the games you have not yet predicted on, and this link can be used by those who enter all their predictions in one go. Of course, you may return and alter any of your predictions up until shortly before kick-off. If you've predicted on all the games then you can see all your predictions on one page just by clicking the ID in the table.
pom11-12-2018 21:27:46
I thought I had put my predictions in for some time, however it turns out I hadn't and I lost out on a few weeks of predictions, dropping me down the table. With this in mind, rather than putting each individual match prediction in, can the site be changed so we ca see all out predictions on one page for the whole season? This would also make it easier for people who put in predictions in one go rather than people who predict each week
Drongo06-12-2018 06:59:58
Unable to contain my excitement on hearing the draw for the Third Round of the FA Cup, I have entered this match in the Cup comp section so that you may all now demonstrate your wild enthusiasm for this tie.
sagwhite28-11-2018 10:32:10
Thanks for pointing that out David, corrected!
davidmyer27-11-2018 01:01:15
Well done so far SAG White. Love your record breaking prediction for the January match against QPR. Hope you are right on that one.
Drongo05-10-2018 02:52:57
Forgetting to predict may be one good ploy, but it might not be a foolproof method of gaining success. I shot up the league by a massive one position simply by keying in the now-obligatory three goals conceded. It's a funny old game!
northern light03-10-2018 15:50:40
Forgot to put in a prediction for the Villa match, only to find that I’ve climbed in the table. I SEE the dann of a new prediction strategy &'128064;&'129504;
Drongo23-09-2018 01:07:03
Not many of those pessimistic hats are being worn by the other punters for the upcoming Baggies game though, Bazza. Maybe they know something we don't. Anyway, ladies and gentlemen, we now have an opportunity to cover ourselves in Cup Glory, so place your bets for the Boro game :-)
hamiltonmachine19-09-2018 07:14:33
Relegation zone! I was being quite optimistic in my predictions, I know, unusual for me, time to put my pessimistic hat on...
maso05-09-2018 04:20:59
Don’t know how the kiwi flag got there drongo :( better change it I’m still in Oz :)
Drongo31-08-2018 21:36:38
I know exactly what you mean David. Having watched no games, and relying only on the occasional match report from an eye-witness, there is no logic involved in my own predictions other than the dubious notion that things can't go on being dire forever. It must be the Micawber Principle at work in all of us :-)
davidmyer31-08-2018 11:47:03
PNE 20th and Bolton 3rd. And no-one has predicted a Bolton win? With mugs like that how can I fail to win this and why am I doing so badly? I've picked a win for PNE too. What is the matter with me? We are a bunch of desparates.
Drongo27-08-2018 10:11:26
I see Maso's flying the Kiwi flag these days. Are you based in NZ now Wilf?
Drongo25-08-2018 05:06:51
Let's hope some of the other Whites Downunder can experience similar success in the near future; it's looking too much like an Aussie convention down at the foot of the table :-(
pom24-08-2018 00:46:21
Wow, shot up 14 spots and I didn't even get the correct score
Drongo20-08-2018 07:59:34
For those who forget to place predictions it might be worth mentioning again that you can, if you wish, make predictions on all the games in the current season by clicking the My Missing Predictions link. You can then alter any of those predictions at any time until shortly before kick-off :-)
Drongo06-08-2018 21:44:56
Just a note for those who may have just joined us after QPR and wonder why you're not on the table; you won't show up on the table until we've played a game you've predicted on :-)
hamiltonmachine06-08-2018 06:50:53
Well,joint equal :)
abitrich05-08-2018 08:54:26
Ha! I shall make the most of it while I can. :D
Drongo04-08-2018 21:39:43
Hey look, look, look .... see who's top of the league!!
Drongo03-08-2018 23:27:18
Sorry Rich - I can't answer that without spending time on figuring it out, by which time we'll have kicked off. I hope this doesn't totally ruin your season ;-)
abitrich03-08-2018 14:11:02
Why isn't the table alphabetical? It's the one time in the season I can sit on the top of the league!
Drongo02-08-2018 09:02:51
Don't forget to have a go at the PP Cup Competition as well as the League You can find it just under the banner picture in the 'Select Cup or League competition' dropdown box

crusader19-07-2018 21:35:28

Drongo07-05-2018 15:00:13
Congrats to our gallant winner and to David for providing us with yet another close finish to the PP Competition. Thanks also to everyone who stuck with it after a slightly unconventional start to our proceedings this season. A recent photo of those who won a Podium Place would be useful for the Hall of Fame update, and everyone is invited to the totally huge and massive Glittering Grand Gala Awards Ceremony.
costablanca white07-05-2018 11:51:00
Thanks David, I changed my original 3-0 just before setting off for the match to a optimistic 3-1. If we had kept 11 players on the pitch I think it would have been a much easier and a larger win. Having moved back to the UK and seeing a large part of the games live I'm sure heart overrules head sometimes. It's been a great season and winning Preston Predictions has made up for PNE not getting into the play-offs, it's not the way round I would have preferred though. Hopefully PNE can make the promised land next season.
davidmyer06-05-2018 15:51:31
Well done Costablanca. Too good in the end. I originally tipped a 2-1 win but changed to a 1-1 draw expecting you to pick 2 or 3 -1. six points would not have been enough if you were to score three. Nice try but not good enough! Maybe next year. It was bad luck to the PNE boys but I think we might have struggled in the play-offs
Drongo28-04-2018 14:40:24
North End may have managed to take the season to a cliff-hanger of a finish, but the real excitement lies here in Preston Predictions. With only a couple of points separating the top two contestants, once again the destination of the PP trophy will not be decided until the last game of the season. Nail-biting stuff indeed!
Drongo05-03-2018 16:19:44
For those of us who are losing confidence in our ability to compete in this most demanding of all leagues; remember, there's always a way!
Drongo17-02-2018 03:00:26
Hmmmm.... I'm not sure about that, Roy. You're only one six-point jackpot away from my current top-six spot, so I would imagine the Board may decide to give bonus points only to those who live in Toowoomba, and whose surnames begin with 'W'
costablanca white16-02-2018 18:11:56
Well, don't forget me, 13th Jan was my first. Do I qualify?
northern light07-02-2018 09:54:47
Would have been a wiser choice by the board if they had awarded him the bonus points before the season, to honour his efforts to make this event possible, than to change the rules during the season.
Drongo03-02-2018 13:46:00
Well life is full of surprises, J-A. Over brandy and cigars, and after due consideration, the Board decided that it might be fitting to award bonus points to Drongo in recognition of his having just scored his first CS of the season.
northern light03-02-2018 10:49:24
The board now will give...
northern light03-02-2018 10:48:31
I guess that the now will give a prompt - 'no case' response to such a claim.
Drongo01-02-2018 17:22:47
I certainly think some bonus points may be awarded to anyone who is in the top 16 after Xmas without having a CS to their name. I'll raise it at the next Board Meeting. Now then - do we have a mugshot of our reigning champion for the (recently updated) Hall of Fame?
davidmyer30-01-2018 16:08:53
Time to update the Hall of Fame, putting Australia ahead for the first time? No, it's really all about me, me, me.
davidmyer30-01-2018 16:06:51
Is there a reward of some sort for going misere, Drongo? A whole season with no CS points = an auto victory?
hamiltonmachine27-01-2018 15:30:38
Thanks Trev!
Drongo27-01-2018 14:41:37
Well that ends our Cup competition for another year. So, without further ado, it only remains for us to open the envelope and discover who has won the sparkling PP Cup Comp trophy. And the winner is... ... ... HamiltonMachine. Congratulations Bazza!
Drongo20-01-2018 16:19:45
Wondering whether I can go the whole season without a single Correct Score to my name. Seems almost impossible to have gone this far and not hit the jackpot once.
Drongo20-12-2017 19:55:48
Cup competition: Ladies and gentlemen - at long last I have entered the Accrington EFL result, and even keyed in the Wycombe FA Cup game for your continued amusement.
Drongo02-12-2017 14:54:57
It's that time of year, David; I'm feeling charitable :-)
davidmyer02-12-2017 14:39:49

davidmyer23-11-2017 02:53:57

Cheers Bazza - I think it's time all my years of dedicated training began to pay dividends :-)

Well done Trev! Top of the table, I am impressed!
Drongo15-08-2017 17:00:44
Well here I am, back in Queensland and jetlagged, but normal service will now resume. Sorry about the delayed start to the season.
walrus06-08-2017 12:12:41
Oh the irony of a 1-0 win for PNE.....
sagwhite06-08-2017 04:31:55
Found the prediction David and it's fixed, I expect the bung will arrive soon :-)
davidmyer06-08-2017 04:20:17
Not quite within the regs, but I did post my prediction here for the Sheff Wed game and in good time. But I probably deserve to be handicapped a couple of points at the start, with my record last season.... Great result to start the season by the way. When was the last time we won our first game?
Johnno05-08-2017 20:13:03
This will be the season I reckon. Premier League here we come, just in time for my 70th birthday.
sagwhite05-08-2017 12:47:31
well we are up and running, anyone who didn't make a prediction has been awarded as previously stated a 1-1 result, if anyone predicted a result that is different to the database could you please let me know and depending on the size of the bung you offer I may be tempted to change it.
costablanca white05-08-2017 06:06:53
Just in time for this side of the Atlantic, Cheers and good luck to all
Drongo05-08-2017 05:27:33
Yes, I agree - and the default 1-1 prediction for those who don't predict is not a bad idea. I just entered my own 1-1 score anyway.
sagwhite05-08-2017 05:20:54
all fixtures are in so predicting can begin, problem is most whites down under are in bed so only europeans can take advantage, bit unfair unless we set them up a 1-1 prediction for anyone who misses, otherwise I think we should scrap the game but if someone gets in right?
Drongo05-08-2017 05:15:13
Hey Keith - I was just about to add a few games to the old database and save some time. I don't see why that shouldn't work, but I see you beat me to it. Jolly good :-)
sagwhite05-08-2017 03:03:52
Havent been at home so i did not have the time to set this up as usual. Back today soi can do the business but too late for todays game
Drongo05-08-2017 02:47:44
Greetings all - our comp will run this year but we may have a delayed start as I've only just got back to England and a keyboard. I suggest you email your prediction for the first game to pp@whitesdownunder.net and we'll see whether or not to include this game according to how many folk enter a prediction this way.
Glen- Pne05-08-2017 02:30:22
Ready ..... steady..... STOP ! Help, am positive we will win 10 - 0 today, shame I can't make my prediction!! Hoping we can have a belated start?
costablanca white04-08-2017 17:05:51
Looks like this comp is not going to happen, pity
davidmyer04-08-2017 04:12:38
Only just got to your response John-Arne. I will follow your advice to the letter and certainly ask my partner why we aren't going to Norway. How are we going on the Prediction Comp for this year Drongo? I'm predicting a 1-0 home win against Sheff Wed.
walrus29-06-2017 14:19:26
Todays news may well see me need to make a change to my 1-0 win prediction tactic. Grayson is so selfish.
northern light26-05-2017 05:49:17
It seems like you are missing the target David, as Iceland is too far west from where you really want to go. Mind you, Iceland an be seen Norway's Australia, as it is a place where our not so wanted citizens had to go back in the days. Unlike Australia, however, there is no reason to believe that I eland will offer you a sunstrike whilst you're there. You still want to bring your swimming gear though, as the Blue Lagune will offer you a swim in really warm waters. Make sure to put the original Geysir and Gullfoss on your to do list. Iceland's recent football achievements will be a good conversation topic with the natives. Please ask them why their coach did go to Norway. Then, perhaps ask yourself why you did not.

Thanks John-Arne. You're right though: banter is life's lubricant. Everything goes better with banter. That's why I enjoy shopping in the local market. And that's why the old email list was such fun. Facebook is not the same. Ahh, when I were a boy... And of course nostalgia ain't what it used to be. Incidentally we are talking about a trip to Iceland in September. Any ideas?
northern light09-05-2017 11:50:05
Congratulations, David! Amazing consistency over two seasons. Glad you picked this season and not last season to peak. A dissapointing season on my part, but not as dissapointing as the lack of banter here. Must be too many people on here that have a life outside football.
Drongo08-05-2017 01:04:41
Oh I disagree, David. This is a test of skill, relying on a deep understanding of football 'at this level', together with profound knowledge of current form, the physical condition of every player in both lineups for every team, a consideration of Grayson's strategy on the day and the prevailing weather and pitch condition. You're being too modest :-)
davidmyer08-05-2017 00:18:47
Thanks for the adulation. That is glory enough for me. Who needs a trophy? Very lucky really - as evidenced I suspect by the fact that we have had a different winner every year. Talent is irrelevant. Also a good thing that Sagwhite, Dazzla and even Cloud9 PNE10 who didn't forecast the full amount but each averaged better than 2 points a game. Might have been very close. Great little competition Drongo. well organised and well managed. Already looking to retain my crown next year.
hamiltonmachine07-05-2017 23:48:45
Well done Mr Myers!
Drongo07-05-2017 14:21:23
OK - it's now official - David Myer has won the coveted PP title for Australia. Very well played, David.
Drongo04-05-2017 20:56:56
The Board has no objection to the revamping of the august institution known as Preston Predictions - a name chosen hastily and long, long ago simply for its mnemonic connotation (PP). We might have some sport with this over the close season in our Facebook group. Any suggestions for this - and anything else- are welcome at any time though.
davidmyer03-05-2017 00:10:15
Thanks Snow White. Without wishing to pre-judge the final result, it will be very nice to wear a mantle that I think has been worn by your goodself in seasons past. And Drongo, never mind a satisfactory year for our beloved team, it has been a satisfactory year for the Prediction competition thingy. Incidentally, does it need a proper name with a bit of branding attached to it? Preston Predictions is a bit flat (with great respect to the originator, of course). Perhaps a naming competition in the off season? Certainly better than the old days when we all told stories about what was in our lunchtime sandwiches.
Glen- Pne01-05-2017 01:31:45
Congrats David Champ and David Runner up. Good game, good game all
Drongo30-04-2017 20:40:53
Greetings, all. I reckon this has been a satisfactory year for our beloved team, even though it has not ended in the trip to Wembley that looked a faint possibility before things began to go wrong in the last few games. It does look very much as if the winner of this year's world famous Preston Predictions competition has been decided. With only one game to go, David Myer would have to do something spectacularly silly to allow David Ingram to snatch the crown on goal difference. But it's a funny old game, so I think we'll leave the official announcement, congratulations and prize-giving until after the Wolves game. Some newcomers to this contest have done well this year, and in order to prepare the season summary for this year I would ask everyone who's in the top ten positions to let us have a recent photo we can use for the purpose. Anyone else can send in a photo too, of course, and it would be good to see what everyone looks like anyway. The running of the competition has been remarkably trouble-free this season, which is just as well since this has been a surprisingly busy year for yours truly (hence the infrequent updating of the site's banner, wallpaper, towels and toilet paper etc. etc. My apologies) Please send photos either via our Facebook Group, or using the 'email us' link on the left. Thanks!
northern light30-04-2017 06:12:49
I believe we have a new champion...
davidmyer13-04-2017 18:49:03
It's definitely too soon to call. A couple of correct predictions is all it takes to overtake Australia. I hate this being chased thing. I would far rather be tucked in on the leader's shoulder. I can't stand the pressure. I feel like Greg Norman with an eight shot lead going into the last day of the most important tournament in the world, which this Prediction thingy surely is.
Drongo18-03-2017 16:02:39
For calculating the goal difference, Roy, we use a highly complex and sophisticated algorithm, specially developed for us by the in-house boffins here at PP HQ. Personally, I prefer the system we used in earlier times involving lots of beer and a dartboard, but it seems even the PP organisation must bend before the inexorable march of technology :-( Here's how it's done these days: For each correct teams number of goals you score, you receive that number of +goals. e.g. you predict 2 and the team scores 2, you get +2 goals. For each incorrect number of goals you predict per team, you lose the difference in goals. e.g. you predict 3 and the team scores 2, you get -1 goals.
Drongo18-03-2017 15:29:09
Would that be the Fulham game, Mr Walrus? In which case I'm sure your support made all the difference.

northern light25-02-2017 07:43:30
If you feel a bit like Leicester, I must honestly say that I feel a LOT like Leicester. Still have confidence in my manager, so a sacking is out of the question. Aiming to get on par with Maso, to beat him on goal difference.
davidmyer21-02-2017 03:17:04
I feel a bit like Leicester. But unlike them I have doubts about whether I can keep it going.
hamiltonmachine18-02-2017 19:44:51

What? Only third? Damn you, Bazza ... you and your Pessimistic Predictions!
Drongo24-01-2017 18:15:01
Well I may not have been up there with the leading pack too much in recent times, Bazza, but cast your mind back to our inaugural season - over a decade ago now - when I finished second, and not so many years later I was runner-up again, so there! I've been very much distracted over recent months though, and missed a couple of games - not the sort of stuff of which champions are made :-(
hamiltonmachine22-01-2017 17:24:24
Bloody hell Trev! Never seen you so high in the league
Drongo26-12-2016 13:10:57

northern light22-12-2016 01:39:52
Apart from Mr. Myer's glittering and consistent predictions, this competition strikes me as a bit dull at the moment. Even the gentlemen (Maso & Abitrich)who have made silly number predictions have been allowed to do so without comment. Personally, I wonder what to think of Drongo's thoughts about the Villa game coming up next year.
Drongo21-12-2016 14:20:15

O pride and joy! It feels good to finally have won it, and Iºm honoured to join the list of so many accomplished predictors that have won the trophy in the past. Thanks to Mr. Myer who followed me to the finishing line and thanks to Drongo for making it all possible. An event in Copenhagen sounds like an excellent idea, Walrus. Why donºt you join in? After all, the flight times from Bristol and Trondheim to Copenhagen are just about the same, and meeting on neutral ground in a foreign country sounds fair. As for Ms Christensen, Iºm sure sheºll look good at any presentation, in any age, even with her overcoat on.
walrus08-05-2016 12:18:14
Congratulations Mr Northern Light, a worthy competitor to take my cherished crown; and more importantly not a bloody Aussie!! New tactics now needed I feel to try and regain my crown next season. By he way, last year PP booked the voluptuous Miss Kelly Brook in a very glitzy awards ceremony in a top London hotel, hopefully theyºll do something similar for you in Copenhagen. Is Helena Christensen still a tidy bit of crumpet and worthy of presenting such a prestigious award?
Drongo08-05-2016 02:30:58
I know just what you mean about going for unlikely results, David, when things get desperate :-) I know some punters wonder why we can see other folksº predictions at all, but Iºm still inclined to think switching off that facility at the appropriate time always adds a touch of spice to the proceedings. Likewise the scoring system, which is the subject of much discussion at PP Towers every pre-season, has always provided us with a close finish, so the old maxim "if it ainºt broke..." still applies. The Board has asked me to convey its thanks to everyone who played the game this year, and to pass on the good news that PP season ticket prices will not increase for next season.
davidmyer07-05-2016 16:54:50
Hatºs off to Northern Light. My intrinsic southern hemisphere optimism combined with my desperation to close the gap encouraged me to go for wins at the end where there werenºt any - notably Burnley and Reading. A loss and a draw were much more likely outcomes, and if I had picked them correctly, I still wouldnºt have won. How many years have I been trying at this? Well done to Drongo whose usual good humour and efficiency contrived once again to provide a lot of fun for a surprisingly large number of people. Bravo.
Drongo07-05-2016 14:44:21
An emergency meeting of the executive council came to the decision that no penalty would be imposed on northern light for posting a link to such aurally offensive material. It is therefore my pleasure to announce that the winner of the world-famous PP competition for 2016 is none other than our own ... our very own ... **NORTHERN LIGHT** How splendid to see yet another flag draping the fabulous PP Trophy :-) Well played, sir :-) Once again the competition went down to the very last game. Our commiserations go to the gallant runner-up. Better luck next time, David! And now, dear contestants, work begins on compiling the commemorative page for 2016. If our top six finishers would care to send us a suitable selfie for use on this project we will happily include it.

Natural Pessimism? I was born in Preston so undoubtedly born lucky! The Sand Flickers problem wasnºt optimism, it was just a realignment of the natural order of things (still ongoing!) after some very strange years. I reckon the eruptions beneath Mount Eyjafjallajökull were to blame....
northern light01-05-2016 04:53:02
Better invest whatever money you have in some treatment for that unlimited optimism, Walrus. Last yearºs win combined with North Endºs first ever promotion has obviously disturbed your natural pessimism. Unreserved optimism is a very serious condition indeed, just look what happened to that seaside lot with the Tower once they reached PL.

So I woke up at 4.40am to watch the North End game. Apart from the keeper, I thought the team played well. They were outclassed by Burnley, which pains me to say, but overall a top half finish after going up last season is a good result for the season. Next season we can look at doing better than this season and push for the play offs.
northern light20-04-2016 11:55:57

As you may have noticed the PP server has experienced some problems over the last day or so, this has been caused by the PP technical staff going on an all day bender having forgotten there was a midweek match. The Chief Technician waking to the mother of all hangovers mistook the glass cabinet which houses the server for a microwave and proceeded to try and heat up his ºFull English", as the last of the baked beans, egg yolk and coffee slid down the sides into the ventilation slots and usb ports the server gave up and shut itself down refusing to come out of retirement. All has now been solved and we are back on line but please bookmark the following email address in case of future problems:- preds@ribblewhites.net This email address is on a different server so if you cannot access the site to input your predictions you can mail them to us before the game starts and they will be logged. Any other technical questions may take longer to answer as the Chief Technician has just been seen crossing the road from ºPP Towersº and entering the door of the Dog & Duck.

davidmyer29-02-2016 23:20:35
It is indeed an honour to head the table over so many skilled and experienced campaigners. Well, the problem is that although not actually from Preston, I am mired in Prestonian misery - when I am behind, there is no hope and when I am in front, it can only go down from here. Methinks I have peaked too soon. But Jan and Feb were good months for me. March? We shall see.
northern light29-02-2016 09:14:22
From Melbourne may be the obvious answer, but as always Preston would be more correct. More interestingly this honoured gentleman has demonstrated an instinct subdued by so many here lately, perfect timed pessimism. May just be the skill needed to win this years competition dear W.

In answer to a nervous question, the switching-off of the "view other puntersº predictions" is controlled by a sophisticated algorithm created by PPºs in-house boffins, who are undoubted leaders in their field of expertise. Leaving the option in "open" mode until the time is right just adds a little spice to the proceedings :-)

BLACKBURN Rovers has hired Paul Lambert as manager to teach ungrateful supporters a lesson. Rovers fans have been vocal in their criticism of the club’s board, and managing director Derek Shaw admitted that the deliberate infliction of Lambert is all about revenge. Shaw said: “I’ve had it up to here with those bastards and their pie-in-the-sky demands. If they want to boo, we’ll give them something to boo. “Let’s see how they like it when they’ve watched their nineteenth consecutive nil-nil draw. They’ll be begging to have Steve Kean back.” Lambert said: “The best attack is a good defence, and the best defence is also a good defence. We’ll be trying to lull other teams to sleep through a combination of our tactics and my soft but depressing voice. “It’s vitally important the fans make no sudden cheering noises, but I don’t think that will be a problem when they see the signings I’ve got lined up.” Blackburn fan Joseph Turner said: “Watching a Lambert team is a real education, in the sense that you feel like you’re in a geography lesson that’s never going to end.”
Drongo11-11-2015 20:10:01
Okay - Blackburn have sacked the manager. Iºd better modify my prediction to reflect the changed circumstances. Iºll leave this for a while, though, because clubs without managers often do very well, and because David Moyes has been mentioned in this context, but mainly because I canºt find the dice.
Drongo09-11-2015 16:13:15
Itºs refreshing to read that we looked great defending. From many posts I see on a certain PNE forum we are deadly dull and our defence consists of strategically parking the bus while, at the other end, Iºm led to believe that even Messi would struggle to score from the long-ball service. Others, however, are content at the prospect of mere survival in the Championship, and Iºm a member of this happy band. Steady as she goes, Mr Grayson :-)

Yes, please, Rich. Then kindly wake me in May.

Predicted 0-0 for the remainder of the season. Do you want my hall of fame picture now? ;)
Drongo31-10-2015 16:12:14
Cloudy: 3-1 "prediction" duly entered, albeit on Sunday morning, just for the record. Youºre right about the danger of leaving it late to predict. Saturday is my busiest working day and after work is finished Iºm in great need of some R&R. It would be very helpful if, in future, someone would point out that we have incorrect kick-off times (or even dates) set for matches. Thanks :-)
cloud9 pne1031-10-2015 10:09:56
16:00hrs on Oct 31 2015 is not a good time to ask an Aussie about footie matters, but can you put me down for a 3-1 PNE victory tonight against Bolton. Thank-you
abitrich21-10-2015 04:18:27
Yes. I quite like the small ones too. :p
Drongo20-10-2015 14:34:48
Iºm afraid we really manly men have no time to google for such things as we spend ALL our time searching for Big Boobs. But, as you say, each to their own ;-)
abitrich20-10-2015 04:50:38
Men are men? Have you ever googled ºrugby player fingerº? Thatºs not the kind of activity I like to see men engaged in, personally. But each to their own.
Drongo17-10-2015 15:55:22
Hmmm .. Iºm not sure how this squares with the early exit from the contest of England - land of the public school, led by such a person as you so eloquently describe. Meanwhile, the teams from the Southern Hemisphere, where men are men ... ...
walrus09-10-2015 07:32:45
Rugby is a crap game for public school pig shagging homosexuals?
Drongo05-10-2015 01:55:19
Anyone want to talk about rugby?

Apologies to anyone who couldnºt get into the site late on; I couldnºt either.

Drongo21-08-2015 03:05:30
Hardly our fault if some whingeing bloody Poms donºt have the IQ of a flamin galah. Actually there was some talk in the PP board room today, as the brandy and cigars were being dispensed, of recalculating last yearºs result - on technical grounds. I do hope this wonºt be necessary.
walrus20-08-2015 01:50:19
Mr Light, The scoring seems to be done in a similar way to QI in that no-one can really understand it or that it makes no sense! Of course the cynic in me thinks that the Aussies change it on a game by game basis so that they might actually win at something!!
Drongo19-08-2015 01:44:22
The goals columns just happen to be the same, but you picked up a point for getting one teamºs score correct in the Rotherham game while Kevin didnºt. You can see a breakdown of points gained by clicking on any ID in the "Player" column, while a detailed explanation can be found via the Helpful Info link :-)
northern light18-08-2015 14:40:56
How come that I have one more point than Kevin? Our other numbers look identical to me.
Drongo18-08-2015 14:14:08
Yes, Steve,itºs all terribly exciting at this stage of the season, when a couple of points can rocket you up to mid-table :-)
SteveJ17-08-2015 06:51:33
Cor! System says Iºm worst perfomer of the week - falling 26 places. Doesnºt anyone recognise my predition of us losing 2-1 away to the Dons was the sole responsibility for the 1-0 win? Well that and Gallagherºs goal at least. Anways, lets see what the ºputer can make of my next 2 predictions showing North End drawing both. He, he.
walrus07-08-2015 02:16:00
For the last 2 Test Matches, Alastair Cook and Michael Clarke have been seen discussing options before the toss. Often Michael will say, “Um, ah, look mate, I’m not really sure whether to have a bat or bowl on day 1”. Each time, Alastair has replied with, “Well, how about you guys have go at both?” Class.
abitrich07-08-2015 02:10:03
How do everyone. Looking forward to the new season, despite the relative lack of new signings. Lets hope Baily Wright doesnºt catch the Aussie bug and commit pommicide on Sunday!
Drongo06-08-2015 15:32:51
Cricket is most certainly an acceptable topic for discussion here, but I think perhaps someone should explain the culturally dichotomous world in which we proud expats live ... and why we call *ourselves* poms. That would be a long post :-)
walrus06-08-2015 06:15:30
No, mentioning cricket is perfectly all right. 60 all out - how on earth did we let this shower beat us at Lords!

SteveJ04-08-2015 06:19:02
I think I predicted for first 2 matches? For the Oz based folks, BeIN sports took over Setanta sports some little while back. Costs about $20 per month to subscribe and if you have Foxtel means you can see it on TV via Foxtel and also can log on to relevant web site, I can see that if watching BeIn sports via Foxtel (on TV) then PNE v Boro is playing at 3:00am. (In my case Iºll record and watch when I get up). fyi in case of any interest/assistance.
Drongo04-08-2015 00:15:07
Trouble is, Bazza, I canºt decide whether Iºm a pessimist or not :-) :-(

Drongo03-05-2015 17:46:39
Not the fairy-tale ending we were hoping for v Colchester but we can always hope for a change in our awful playoff form. Congratulations to Mark for his deserved victory in this more important league (and thanks for the photos). Anyone else want to send me a photo, even those of us who missed out on a top-six spot?
walrus03-05-2015 11:55:16
Winning the prediction league is just about the best consolation one could hope for after todays horror show! I wasnºt even at the game so I canºt be blamed for this one. Cheers for running the comp. Iºll see you next season.
Drongo02-05-2015 05:55:45
As most will know I like to round off the season with a summary (see link on left) but I need some cooperation this time as Iºve only just returned today to Sai Gon where I left my laptop, so Iºm well behind the usual schedule. What I need most is mugshots of the top six punters, so if you think youºre in with a shout, please send a photo of your gorgeous self to the email address on the left. Then Iºll see what I can do with the rest of the summary but it may have to wait longer than usual this time. Itºs been another interesting season at PP, with yet another tight finish. Thanks for playing the game, and please send those pics :-)
pom01-05-2015 22:23:50
So long as they win, thatºs all I am bothered about. 2-1 would be nice, but they havenºt had that scoreline all season so I doubºt they will start now. At least I have made it for the match at Colly.
crusader01-05-2015 06:00:57

Cheers Geoff - it was good to hear a Lancs accent for a change :-)
davidmyer20-04-2015 15:54:51
Notts County, Swindon and Colchester. Swindon has nothing to play for except keeping nice for the playoffs. Notts County and Colchester have everything to play for and will be busting a gut to beat us. I predict bad results against them and a good result against Swindon. Mind you Iºm not changing my actual predictions. Just musing.
walrus20-04-2015 00:47:40
I have to confess that my 1-0 experiment I decided on at the start of the season though highly successful has been rather dull compared to the highly extravagant, glitzy, showy but erratic style of Dave ºThe Raveº Ingram. Saying that who wouldnºt take 3 1-0 victoryºs to finish of the season and join the Wurzels back in the Championship?

Drongo04-04-2015 14:43:28
The season is drawing to an exciting finale and so, in keeping with tradition, the facility to view the predictions of other contestants for future matches has now been switched off. This removes from our members any temptation to indulge in the ungentlemanly practice of "tactical predicting". We can still see all the stats for games already played, and the PP table may change a good deal between now and the end of our season with over 40 Precious Points still to be played for.
costablanca white04-04-2015 12:17:32

Drongo31-03-2015 14:41:11
Well I must say ... Iºm very disappointed by the total lack of any response to our Positive Thinking initiative. Not one envelope stuffed with used notes has been delivered to the PP office :-(
Drongo18-03-2015 06:42:47
Yes, itºs a bit odd that 2-1 results have been so rare this year. It was also SteveJºs strategy - predict a whole load of 2-1 scores and then come back and have a look near the end of the year, and heºs another with nothing in the CS column to date. Problem is though - if you stop predicting 2-1 then suddenly all the games will finish 2-1 :-)
pom17-03-2015 22:21:34
I love how I have put every result this season as 2-1 to PNE, but yet to get a correct score and find it is still the top predictable score each week. Guys, donºt put 2-1 as it has never been right all season and so I doubt it will be correct in the next game

Drongo26-12-2014 19:42:36
Well it would be good to see a new flag at the top when the season ends, so why not a Maple Leaf? Could also be a Dutch flag. Whatever flag it may be, it begins to look likely that there will be a new name on the trophy. Most of the former champs are wallowing in the lower reaches and only Glen is within shouting distance of the current leader.

Drongo25-10-2014 00:58:50
SHOCK!! Yes, itºs true, our archivist is Spanish and has never visited the Antipodes. In fact heºs been doing most of the work around here recently, so I think that dispels any conspiracy theory based on geography. Apart from the odd bit of off-season tinkering with the php scripts that make everything work, everything is automatic. Other than occasionally having to reschedule games, all we need to do once the season begins is enter the results and press the magic button that makes everything happen, so Iºm afraid I just donºt see how this claim of a prediction disappearing can be upheld if thereºs no trace of it in the database.

First draft report of the investigation is in, our anti-corruption department have discovered emails generated for all Mr Walrusºs predictions for this season except the Gillingham game, on Tuesday a prediction was received from Mr Walrus for a 1-0 win for PNE but was for the Fleetwood game, no entry exists in the database for the Gillingham game. The next meeting will be held to discuss possible sanctions, points deductions, entering predictions behind closed doors etc. Watch this space!
Drongo24-10-2014 02:50:38
Oh, and thereºs a pattern to my predictions too ... theyºre all wrong ;-(
Drongo24-10-2014 02:47:52
OK - well the system keeps a complete record of all entries and copies of automatically-generated emails (even though you may elect not to receive them). Our in-house archivist will be carefully examining the records and delivering his report shortly.
walrus24-10-2014 00:42:47
I turned the email notification off and Iºve never claimed to be sensible or grown up!! :) There is a pattern to my predictions this season.....
Drongo24-10-2014 00:28:23
The system sends us emails to confirm our predictions. If Mr Walrus would care to check his recent mails from PP, that might prove illuminating.
Drongo23-10-2014 14:53:21
If anyone can tell me what Mr Walrus is on about Iºd be grateful; clearly heºs too busy having a tantrum to send a coherent email like sensible grown-up people might :-P
walrus23-10-2014 05:04:42
Fix!! Disgrace!! Shame!! it looks like the Aussies are typically cheating their way back into the competition... my 1-0 win predication against Gillingham has gone..watchout daveingram theyºll be after you soon....
infidel16-10-2014 02:31:01
I suppose we have to let them win something from time to time eh! Still a bunch of messy colours tho.Abit like the rainbow and we know what that stands for :)
Drongo15-10-2014 22:59:19
Yes, those un-Australian flags do make the place look untidy. Perhaps it was a mistake to allow these *aliens* to play the game - especially as some of them have been ill-mannered enough to actually WIN the bloody thing!
infidel15-10-2014 19:51:43
What`s with all those silly flags 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,9,10,11,12!
pom13-10-2014 15:59:06
Well I thought I would let you into my secret. I have put all my predictions as 2-1 wins. I want to se if this pays off. As it is, I am going OK despite not actually getting a CS yet, but it is only a matter of time
Drongo13-10-2014 14:47:23
Bollox! Once the missing results were entered everything was automatically recalculated as usual and everything is exactly as it should be.
infidel13-10-2014 02:54:39
I reckon with the stuff ups in points awarded I should be given top spot as it is obvious that is where I should be.
Drongo13-10-2014 01:43:54
Never before in the 130-year history of Preston Predictions has Dear Leader failed to attend to two important Public Events. Speculation is rife that Dear Leader may no longer be in charge. Has he been toppled by his next-door neighbour, Nancy (84)? Such is the secrecy surrounding this God-like figure that we may never know the full facts. However, the machine is working normally, notwithstanding the whinging from certain quarters (names have been noted).
walrus08-10-2014 01:02:38
It certainly does look better Sagwhite!! just that dastardly Daveingram to reign in to take my rightful place at the top! Good to see none of those culturally challenged Aussies in the top 6!
northern light07-10-2014 21:33:44
Just entered my prediction for the Port Vale match to be played on October 18th. With hindsight I have a good feeling about this.
sagwhite07-10-2014 12:21:31
Seems normal service has been resumed, table looks update now.
walrus07-10-2014 03:05:04
Its more confusing than Aussie Rules Footy!!
infidel04-10-2014 17:12:49
Got the same question in my mind!I predicted 3-2 and didn`t get a point yet a 1-1 gets points!!!!
davidingram04-10-2014 12:03:43
Remind me of the rules of this league! I predict a PNE victory by 2 goals, (2 0 ) which happens to be correct yet scores nil points. Someone predicts a 11 draw and gets 3 more points?
walrus27-08-2014 11:42:37
C9PNE10 - The only people not beating Jad look as though they have thrown in the towel! And great parenting technique, one to put in the text book for later. I wouldnºt say MM chickened out - more likely he couldnºt figure out what was going on. I reckon Iºd have been top if I hadnºt missed the Rochdale prediction!
pneireland26-08-2014 07:48:24
drongo my friend....its set and forget - unless things go to the wall when ill have to reset and forget again ;-)
cloud9 pne1022-08-2014 17:41:48
Big G is slaughtering you ... yes he is, but the pocket-money freeze will take hold soon so I will be comfortably ahead. Iºm still beating Jad though, but I suspect mm has wimped out.
davidingram19-08-2014 23:02:17
A slight consolation to watching that 91st minute goal go in. North end drop 6 places, Ingram jumps 7!
Drongo19-08-2014 19:19:38
Being top of the league, however fleetingly, is clearly too much for some people to handle :-(
davidmyer19-08-2014 15:36:26
A new chum on top! We canºt have that. Must be beginnerºs luck.
walrus19-08-2014 14:14:55
Ruddy Hell, I forgot to predict...I was going to go 1-1 too.... C9PNE10 - to be fair I realised that after a few days..Iºd change your tactics for this game - its not going too well so far. Big G is slaughtering you....
cloud9 pne1019-08-2014 08:51:21
"Ye har"? ... youºve been in Wilts too long, rodeo. "Ye Har....Can we stop this now, so I can claim my prize?"
Johnno16-08-2014 08:15:57
No worries; Iºm an hour behind........I thought kick-off was 11:00pm Perth time; it must be 10:00pm.
sagwhite16-08-2014 08:12:42
Probably Johnno as itºs just gone half time, have to have them in 30 mins before kick off!
Johnno16-08-2014 08:08:21
I canºt enter the predict thingy. I reckon Scunthorpe 1 PNE 5
walrus13-08-2014 03:04:11
Ye Har....Can we stop this now, so I can claim my prize?
Drongo09-08-2014 14:29:01
@rich I venture to suggest your question has now been answered. Next question: can we avoid the drop? Oh Woe! .. Woe! (bloody Iberians!)
infidel07-08-2014 03:43:53
How longs a piece of string!
abitrich06-08-2014 05:04:02
How do fellow predictors. Considering we NEVER win the opening game of the season it looks like there is some serious optimism for the whites this season. How long do you think that will last?!
walrus05-08-2014 02:17:22
Iºve got a feeling its going to be a great season for us optimistic punters. Bring it on!
Drongo03-08-2014 23:14:15
Is that it for the season then, Mike? Are you using the "Set and Forget" method, or will you be dropping in to do some fine-tuning, say when weºve just gone 12 games without a win?
pneireland03-08-2014 15:27:42
....good luck lads and lasses
pneireland03-08-2014 15:27:16
ok ive entered my predictions today --- the defence of the title begins....
Drongo02-08-2014 20:39:37
Alas, thereºs a bit more to winning the title than just turning up. PNE has to play a few matches first. You may bask in the temporary glory of being Equal First - along with the rest of us :-)
vancouverwhite02-08-2014 17:06:58
On my copy of the table I m in first place, should I quit now or is everyone " in first" at this point. Looking forward to a new season.
crusader23-07-2014 23:33:54
looking forward to the new season and the new challenge on PP
infidel18-07-2014 00:23:40
Pissed i think lol
walrus16-07-2014 05:31:24
Oi Infidel, you baseborn varlet, were you "tired and emotional" on the 10th? Or was it just time of the month?? :)
infidel14-07-2014 06:14:43
The DVD was Brilliant and the Finney tribute brought tears to my eyes. Thanks,
Drongo10-07-2014 16:52:12
Good to see our Victorian friends are going out of their way to make everyone feel welcome :-)
infidel10-07-2014 00:18:47
Oy Walrus you pommie bastard go away...:) :)
infidel10-07-2014 00:17:27
At least if i don`t win it(not much if any chance of that happening)Drongo can take it! Shame about the place in Gods own he lives in:)
Drongo06-07-2014 17:15:45
Ah! Dontcha just love the way hope springs eternal in every footy fan at the start of a new campaign? You deluded punters have clearly not heard that this has been declared the **International Year of the Drongo**
walrus04-07-2014 12:59:11
Top of the league already! I aim to stay there this time!
infidel04-07-2014 01:33:09
Ok ! just give me the 10 million for first prize now. You lot have no chance this season!
hamiltonmachine22-06-2014 20:46:09
Thanks Trev! Looking forward to this season, I certainly canºt be any worse than last season
Drongo22-06-2014 20:18:13
... and here we are at the start of the new season. Yes, I know, the constant deluge of pleasure is almost overwhelming isnºt it. But thereºs no great rush. Feel free to continue basking in the euphoria generated by Englandºs World Cup exploits for as long as you like. Anyway, the PP league is still being tweaked here and there, and itºs a few weeks to kick-off, but we are now OPEN for 2014-15 :-)
Drongo06-05-2014 15:14:07
Thanks for the photos. With luck, we may have the season summary finished before the start of next season.
pneireland05-05-2014 06:16:43
iºm going into hiding :-)think ill save the table and turn it into my fbook wallpaper ! Delighted to have won it in Sir Tomºs year. R.I.P.
Drongo05-05-2014 00:42:52
Well done, Mike. Another close finish, but you just managed to fend off the challengers. Alas, due to austerity measures being in force, we are forced to cut back on the lavish prizes we hand out these days. And since we never awarded owt anyway, that means weºll be sending you the bill. (itºs the price of Fame)
pneireland04-05-2014 15:39:58
thanks lads - twas a pure pleasure taking part - so when do i get my free return ticket for two to oz for a month Trevor ? ;-)
Glen-Pne04-05-2014 03:35:10

Well done Pneireland very close!

congratulations pneireland, cracking end to the season, went down to last game once again.

Dear Mr Infidel, you tried sending it to pp@whitesdownunder.net , that should get through if itºs not too ugly :-)

tried sending my ugly mug shot but it says the default whatever is not installed! Any other way I can send one.
Drongo27-04-2014 16:01:27
Looks like yet another flag will be flying atop the PP mast at the close of this seasonºs Famous International Contest, though chickens are not being counted just yet. What I need people to do now is supply a recent photo for our closing ceremony. Iºd certainly like the contenders for Top Six positions to send me a pic, but I think itºs time we had a web page with a few more photos, so feel free to send one (or two) - no matter where you are in the league table. Use the Email Us link on the left. Thanks!
Drongo18-04-2014 22:45:24
Well it seems the Natural Order of Things is finally beginning to assert itself. After a very slow start to the season, and notwithstanding the rebellious flag-selection policy of some of its members, the Whites Downunder now occupy five of the top eight places in the PP League :-)
sagwhite06-04-2014 11:00:51
Could be in for a record points total currently held by TotalPete with 111 pts!
Drongo30-03-2014 15:34:53
The finishing line is now in sight, so the time has come to switch off the facility to see what everybody else has predicted. You can still see the prediction stats, but not per-punter. Also, please note, we wonºt be including the playoff games in PP this season, so our competition ends with the last scheduled league game. It still looks an open race, with four countries still in contention for the Ultimate Prize in Football, though the Whites Downunder have the numerical advantage in that regard :-)
crusader27-03-2014 04:26:04
Only 3 away games left with a possible 2 extra what we gonna do on a Saturday ?
walrus22-03-2014 14:59:41
Its starting to look statistically improbable that Iºm not a jinx, but balls to it Iºm still going to Ashton Gate on the 5th April, Godammit!
infidel19-03-2014 04:30:07
OH YES! Top for the first and last time probably, but I can say Mr Mcloed been the done that!
Drongo18-03-2014 01:47:32
Thatºs enough of the Oirish malarkey. Weºre celebrating St Patrickºs Day by hauling down the Irish tricolour and sticking the bonzer Whites Downunder flag on top instead :-)
Drongo10-03-2014 00:59:13
Some people have no shame!
walrus05-03-2014 03:30:29
Warning! my tickets for the Swindon game have been delivered and I donºt care what anyone else says, or how selfish it may appear but Iºm going - its only fair I let you know though as you may want to adjust your predictions...
davidmyer01-03-2014 18:21:45
LOL. I canºt argue with that Drongo. I must say, I hadnºt spotted that Rotherham tactic, but now you have pointed it out...
Drongo25-02-2014 23:36:24
Nonsense! A 1-0 prediction showed a much deeper understanding of the game, particularly regarding the overlapping, interlocking, semi-detached floating diamond formation employed by Rotherham in almost 63% of their Tuesday night games in the last two years.
davidmyer25-02-2014 15:21:29
Well, Snow White, 2-1 would have been an excellent pick. It was what I went for so it must have been a good call. But look what good it did us!
Glen- Pne25-02-2014 12:11:40
eek think Iºve left it too late to make my prediction :-( 2 - 1 to the might whites it wouldºve been
Drongo15-02-2014 01:25:04
A sad day indeed. Just been reading some of the tributes with a lump in my throat, and my eyes were getting teary. Iºm even tempted to change my 1-1 prediction now :-(
pom14-02-2014 23:56:32
Rest In Peace Sir Tom, a legend and a gentleman, always remembering where his roots where with the club by being a plumber as well as fighting in the 2nd world war in Egypt. True hero
infidel14-02-2014 19:03:17
Its an omen! I`m 4th in the table and PNE are 4th in table,so its max points for me this week lol.
Drongo05-02-2014 15:32:43
Well thatºs the end of our run in the Cup. Nice while it lasted and good for morale, but now every effort can go into the real job. So letºs see how our PP Cup comp finished, shall we, and itºs ... Bugger Me! .... itºs Tricky One who takes the title. Well done, Bro! Your cheque is in the post :-)
infidel03-02-2014 02:47:03
Bugger!
Drongo02-02-2014 21:44:52
Well you have the right to lodge an appeal, Steve, but the matter will ultimately be decided by someone I happen to know personally and, frankly, I donºt fancy your chances :-)
infidel02-02-2014 21:34:14
I must protest! I have dropped down 3 places lol!
Drongo02-02-2014 04:45:25
Alright - the panel of independent experts at PP Head Office says we can carry on with the fun and frolics, and the league table is updated accordingly. No worries, mate!
Drongo01-02-2014 14:56:28
Due to a slight clerical error, the result of the Notts Co game is currently the subject of a stewards inquiry.

Are we playing the FA Cup prediction for this Fridays game, I canºt seem to put in a prediction....
Drongo17-01-2014 13:30:57
I got an email at some ungodly hour from the current leader of the Cup predictions competition, demanding an explanation of the scoring in the event of extra-time being required. The game was over long before I saw the question, but weºd better have an OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT on this now. In time-honoured fashion the score we use here in such cases will be that in effect at the end of extra time.
Drongo09-01-2014 16:07:41
I think itºs more to do with Old Time Music Hall than the Phestive Period :-)
walrus09-01-2014 02:01:32
Prognosticatory??? Sounds like someones lexicon proliferated over the Yuletime period.....
Drongo09-01-2014 00:36:50
The Ipswich replay is now available for your Prognosticatory Pleasure.
Drongo05-01-2014 15:17:54
We care nothing for your weasel words and so-called "science", Mr walrus. However, our PP legal department has received information from a reliable source that Justin Bieber is a "natural" phenomenon and not, as we had understandably assumed, a creation of evil scientists. The ban is therefore temporarily suspended pending further investigation. Patrons are advised to bear this in mind when entering their predictions for the Swindon and Bristol City matches.
walrus05-01-2014 12:52:08
On the flip side scientists also refined the brewing process, came up with a vaccination for polio and invented isotonic Lucozade. Its what the men of politics and petty middle management did with the scientists inventions in their never ending quest for power and wealth that was the problem! Mind you Johann Konrad Dippel crossed a few lines apparently...
Drongo31-12-2013 15:41:50
walrus: Your appeal has been received. The ban was imposed by the Grand Council at PP headquarters and can only be referred to the Appeals Chamber if your peers support you here in this endeavour. They will no doubt bear in mind that the contributions to civilization of "men of science" include, among many similar benefits, such boons as atomic weapons, thalidomide, sarin gas and Justin Bieber. Hope this helps.
walrus31-12-2013 02:06:29
As a man of science Iºm certain that all this jinx thing is a load of codswallop...I think...isnºt it? Please can I go on the Swindon and Bristol City games.. Happy New Year to one and all.
Drongo30-12-2013 21:04:40

cloud9 pne1027-12-2013 20:04:15
Happy new year folks. Walrus is banned from matches for the rest of the season. 3 bloody 0! Iºve dreaded driving through Brentford this week with my PNE sticker in the back of the car. Itºs your dadºs fault, Walrus, do the honourable thing...

Drongo22-12-2013 21:24:00
Are any other Jinxes planning on scuppering our Promotion Prospects? The Brentford result triggers an automatic season-long ban for walrus, of course. Itºs all there in the fine print of our comprehensive Terms of Service document (currently unavailable)
Drongo22-12-2013 00:33:21
Well thatºs knocked a bit of the fest out of proceedings. Never mind - thereºs always the Magic of the Cup. The Ipswich game is now available for your exhibitions of unwarranted optimism.

abitrich25-11-2013 06:02:16
Looks like I might actually make it on the game tomorrow. My only other game this season was 6-0 against Barnet, so letºs hope Iºm a lucky charm. In which case Iºd better book a flight to bloody Adelaide!

Not a good season for a pint half empty chap :(
Drongo23-11-2013 21:40:26
Iºm doin me best, Steve .. honest I am. But you have more Ozwhite company at the top than you think. Delboy is one of us, but, unlike your good self, flies the English flag. In fact, Ian is a neighbour of yours (by Australian standards) .. lives in Melbourne. So .. the current top THREE are Whites Downunder. Yippeee :-)

SteveJ30-10-2013 05:20:35
Sorry all, I only login every now and again, didnºt realise I had a mention in despatches. Firstly, yes, the Blue Mountains is a great spot and if you want to do some hiking around Katoomba or Wentworth Falls areas - these are all fine as the bushfires were on north side of the highway. 5kms from my place to nearest recent fire spot at Winmalee - close enough when thereºs 50/60 mile an hour winds going on. All safe this time for us, but I do know some personally who lost their houses. Pretty scary this time around as so many houses lost on the first day of outbreak,as the fire started close to the small towns and didnt give anyone much chance to get prepared. But its a great community (Aussie spirit) and all pulling together now to help those affected. Getting back to ºon topicº , so far so good for PNE - hereºs hoping to a good run in November.
Drongo29-10-2013 20:33:54
It may or not be a long-running competition, but you can have a go at predicting our FA Cup results by selecting from the drop-down box (above the kit pics)
pom26-10-2013 23:19:24
The Blue Mountains is still a beautiful place and worth a visit., even if it is just passing through as you come to visit me in the outback.

Strewth! Itºs not Christmas in the Old Country already is it? I thought it was bad enough here in Oz. Last year the festive decorations appeared in the shops before Halloween - the same time as all the useful stuff disappeared from the shelves to make way for Santa hats. Oh, how I love shopping in December and hearing all the same dreary old songs brainwashing me into being Merry: Slade, Paul McCartney, Bing bloody Crosby ... aaargh .. So, thatºs a five point penalty for prematurely mentioning Christmas, Iºm afraid. My game ... my rools :-P

Hello again, playmates, and welcome back to PP. As usual, a few changes have been made so that, as is our tradition, it is not certain that anything of all this will work, or, if it does work, will survive until Christmas. Exciting or what? Other news? Well, PP members with a literary bent will no doubt be overjoyed to hear that, following a successful operation in the later part of last season, this year apostrophes are "Go!" Some suggestions made by punters at the end of last season are still being toyed with and a couple will have their first test when we get going. "Never test changes on a LIVE site" is very sound advice, so we never take heed of it here at Preston Predictions. Better fasten your seat belts then, and hang on to your hats and prepare for disappointment. After all, if the system does miraculously happen to survive the season, there can ultimately be only one winner of the Glittering Prize. So youºd best decide to enjoy the journey!
pom22-07-2013 02:45:44
Welcome to a new season of PP. Well so far the pre season scores have been poor, lets just hope this isnºt reflected in the forthcoming season. Well it looks like we may have to run the Spanish flag up the pole, unless the Kiwi does something spectacular this weekend and sagwhite fails to score. Mr McLeod obviously considers himself to be above all this nonsense, Steve. And our best Downunder punter is actually Glen, flying the Jolly Roger. A poor year for the Southern Cross contestants on the whole though - which is why we'll have to claim Bazza as one of our own this year ... ANZAC spirit an' all that.

Donºt hold your breath waiting for a photo from C9PNE10 - he has a house full of cameras with cracked lenses from attempting to get a mugshot...just google search "Craig Brown Glum " and youºll not be far wrong. Not a great season for us optimistic types, but I canºt help but believe next year SG will lead PNE back to Championship and more importantly me to the more prestigious PP title. The email reminder is a good idea but could it have a toggle on/off switch like with the confirmation emails? As for a message board this comments box is fine I think for this competition but what about using the PNElist forum that a few on here use for more in depth bickering? Thanks for running it Drongo, now sit back and enjoy the summer as our boys give the kangaroo botherers a good going over in the ashes.

Thanks Cloud9, was indeed a good finish, let`s hope next year is equally as good
Drongo30-04-2013 22:29:15
@Cloud9 - thanks for the suggestions. Some enhancements were planned for this season, but work got in the way (dontcha just hate it when that happens?) and switching servers in mid-season caused headaches, so we were lucky just to limp along to the finish line without the whole thing falling over. Maybe we can make some changes during the break. Yes,we can send out reminders but I didnt want to risk annoying anyone with emails they might not want, so it would be good to hear from other punters on that subject. This little box is a bit limiting though; maybe we need a messageboard to argue on. I will look into that. Anyway, where is that bloody photo I asked for, you Pommie B*****d ?!?!
cloud9 pne1030-04-2013 05:41:36
Well done Sagwhite, fantastic run-in. The pp has been good fun - thanks-you organisers. I missed the deadline a few times, which obviously has robbed me of top spot. :) But I beat walrus so that is what matters ... A few ideas for next season, what do people think? We hide predictions as we do for the last few weeks of a season for the whole of the season. And is it possible to send out email reminders to members so that they do not forget their predictions? PS good to see Brentford getting their comeuppance after their penalty miss against Doncaster. Their non-penalty in the 94th minute against North End at Griffin Park the other week cost me five points. Championship here we come

If anyone is in doubt of how good the preds was this year go and have a look at week 30 and see where the top 2 were then, not sure if this year was a record for the number of times the lead changed hands. Just like to say a big thank you to my family who supported me throughout the campaign and without whose help in the dark January nights may have led to me giving up plus the bloke behind the bar at the Bernabeu Tavern who had a vision that we would score 2 against Oldham!

As happens every season, the time has come to hide the predictions of individual punters from the gaze of their competitors. This eliminates the ungentlemanly practice of "tactical predicting". Overall Prediction Stats remain on view, though.

Okay, here's the thing. The PP site was moved to a server in Texas, USA, after the start of the season, and Texas has just switched to Daylight Saving Time (on March 10th). Alas, the White House didn't send us a memo about this :-( So, thanks for pointing this out, Mr Cloud, and we hope your enjoyment of the game was not marred by your undoubtedly stressful experience here at PP. We have credited you with the correct prediction. Have a nice day.

If we avoid defeat against Nott County we will be 7 games unbeaten going in to the Orient game, just as we were last season. In the interest of fairness I feel I must inform you all that I will be attending the game, my first of the season (like last season) and that last season the Orient game I attended was the start of the rot under Phil Brown. Its been a very long time since I've witnessed a PNE win, so predict a PNE win at your peril!!!
Drongo10-11-2012 20:08:42
I agree Bazza. Completely unpredictable. Hence our lowly and completely unwaranted league positions. Success this year is obviously down to sheer luck rather than the sort of skill and insight like wot we've got :-( (pouts .. .. eyes brimming now) There comes a time every year when I'm tempted to upset the table, send the little php scripts flying across the room and yell something very mature like "I'm not playing this STUPID game any more!" It doesn't usually happen before Christmas though :-(

... and that "Receive email of own predictions" is an option in "My Profile" :-)
pom20-09-2012 04:34:17
Well they are all in, although I did get 30 emails telling me.
Drongo19-09-2012 23:57:26
Maybe I should also point out that, as stated in the Terribly Helpful Info, you can change your prediction at any time before the 90 mins deadline.
Drongo19-09-2012 14:16:25
I feel your pain, pom, and hope others take due heed. As suggested in the Helpful Info - "It is always a good idea to enter a few predictions in advance just in case you forget." Anyway let's look on the bright side - there are still 234 points to play for this season; the winning total is generally around the 100 mark. Anyone can win :-)
pom19-09-2012 03:39:47
I see what you are trying to do there Drongo which i think is fair, I on the other hand am regually awake at 3,4,5 in the morning due to a small boy in a cot next to me waking up then waking everyone else up. I know some people take it seriously looking at form, named teams etc however I do not and I just happen to miss that there was a mid week game on until I checket facebook at daft o'clock this morning where it was mentioned North End was playing. I was going to put a win for north end however never would have thought a 5-0 win. Anyway, now I have dropped spots, so to stop this again I am going to do predictions for the rest of the seasons. Good luck to everyone for the rest of the season.
hamiltonmachine19-09-2012 00:31:10
Westley out! How can a pessimist like me do any good in this competition if they win bloody 5-0!
infidel18-09-2012 20:23:13
Bugger! i put it down as 5-0 at first and then changed it on sunday!
Drongo18-09-2012 16:46:21
The 90 min cut-off was actually introduced this season (it was 30 min last year) in an effort to make things a little fairer for those punters who live in a time zone where most PNE games kick off at midnight or later. Seems to have backfired in this case, pom :-( Feel free to make suggestions on how the scoring system might be improved for next year. I've asked in the past, but no-one has put forward any viable suggestions to date. While the current system is not perfect, it seems fair enough, and it has produced some close finishes to the competition. We don't want league leaders having a huge lead by Christmas, thus discouraging others from continuing in the comp.
walrus18-09-2012 14:19:22
Damm that Laird fella for scoring a 5th and ruining my perfect prediction....does he not realise there are far more important competitions than Football League 1? I can't believe C9PNE10 is so high in the league, I'd have thought PNE were doing far too well for his pessimistic outlook on things!
cloud9 pne1018-09-2012 13:42:22
Hey pom, don't shoot the messenger. While trying to work out the scoring system - ie pick faults - I came across "The deadline for entering your predictions is 90 minutes before Kick-Off."
pom18-09-2012 11:37:54
Just woke up to realise I hadn't put my score in for today's match, however it hadn't started yet, went to put it in however it wouldn't let me. I still had 15 mins until the start of the game. How long before kick off does it cut off predictions?
Drongo21-08-2012 19:10:59
Cloudy: We apologise for your distress caused by the missing week and beg to inform you that this will not affect any calculations. In accordance with our strict new policy regarding "bad apples", the person responsible has been shot.
cloud9 pne1020-08-2012 10:19:21
just back from hols - have I missed week three for the Bournemouth game? 6 points fom Colchester... bonza!
Drongo16-08-2012 22:52:15
Rich & dazzla - nice of you to join us, gentlemen. I think if we search hard enough we'll find something in the PP Rule Book (currently unavailable) about turning up late for the season incurring a fifteen point penalty, or detention or sumfin.
infidel13-08-2012 23:58:16
Come on mr McCloud get tha voye in cha!
abitrich13-08-2012 11:07:45
Ow do all. Just got back from my hols and missed the deadline for the prediction. Bugger! Not really sure I'm ready for the football season yet, seems to start earlier every year. Still, it'll be a good chance to see how the team is shaping up. COYW!
Drongo10-08-2012 14:50:55
little jo in PP ban shock drama! Following an apologetic phone call from Lord Coe and promises of tickets for the Hula Hoop competition in Rio, Team GB has been cleared to compete in this years Globally Significant PP event. Little Jo received a one-year ban, however, while our team of marshals and scrutineers has been advised to be on the alert for further registrants bearing names like FloJo, MoJo and other such fiendishly deceptive permutations.
crusader08-08-2012 01:53:33
Looking forward to the new season in the prediction league
Drongo07-08-2012 23:43:53
Shocking Scandal Rocks PP League! Sad to see that the normal British sporting reserve is now replaced by this fanatical desire for victory at any cost, as evidenced by one contestant apparently registering twice for the PP Competition. Such chicanery may perhaps be acceptable in minor contests such as the Olympics but the PP Board of Control are examining this matter very closely and the disqualification of Team GB from this year's event is a possibility.
walrus07-08-2012 11:35:55
Heres something for you antipodeans to mull over, and whine about, whilst we Brits try to keep track of all our gold medalists until the footy starts next Monday... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-19165636 JJ - a 3-0 defeat? surely not even you can be that pessimistic at this stage od the season!!
infidel07-08-2012 02:03:36
Is mcloed the long streak of do do on the go this season!!!! SOFT COCK
davidmyer24-07-2012 04:06:14
I think I will break a many year habit this season and do my predictions for the full season after the first few rounds. It's not easy at the best of times but with an entirely new team and a mad coach, it's particularly difficult. I guess that means I am in with a reasonable chance this year - ignorance is ubiquitous - not just me.
walrus23-07-2012 02:15:03
Happy new season chaps, may it enjoyable and fruitful....
Drongo21-07-2012 00:47:13
Steady, Steve - it's too early to panic. We'll start doing that when we key in the first result and find my off-season tinkering results in the bloody thing not working at all.
stevef_melb21-07-2012 00:19:18
Help I think thats me stuck on the bottom sans name etc Is this self correcting? cheers Steve_melb. It let me make my predictions/log on ok
hamiltonmachine20-07-2012 13:31:43
My spies in Preston tell me 'predict lots of 0-0 draws as we have nothing up front', I am not so optimistic (as usual)
pom20-07-2012 01:38:56
good luck to everyone
sagwhite19-07-2012 11:24:32
Sorry dude but after Spain winning the U19 world cup last week the PP trophy is the only one not in our hands, I'm sure come the end of April that will be sorted!
Drongo19-07-2012 02:40:53
Here we go again. I have no idea who most of our players are so I feel confident of romping to PP glory this season :-)
